This is for someone who has had digestive symptoms for a while, has already tried changing what they eat and adding a probiotic, and still does not know which part of the picture to address.

Bloating, irregular stools, reflux and reactions to food can feel similar. Symptoms alone cannot tell you which of these measurable questions is most relevant — or whether more than one is involved.

These questions can overlap, so the goal is not to force every symptom into one label. The Gut Snapshot measures across all three, and Dr Jared interprets the results alongside your history and symptoms. The laboratory findings do not choose a treatment on their own; they help establish which findings deserve attention first.

What the testing measures

These are laboratory findings — not a diagnosis, and not proof that a detected marker is causing a symptom. Dr Jared interprets them together with your history and symptoms during your Lab Review.

If any finding suggests something that needs conventional medical evaluation — an inflammation marker, an occult-blood result or a pathogen detection, for example — your report and Lab Review will say so plainly, including when to involve your physician or a gastroenterologist. Your results are reviewed before your report is issued — they are not simply released to you unread.

How it works

1. Start your Gut Snapshot. Provide your contact information and complete the $725 purchase. No pre-purchase consultation is required.
2. Complete your intake. We email a brief intake form and arrange shipment of both test kits.
3. Collect your samples at home. Follow the kit instructions and return each sample using its supplied prepaid packaging.
4. We prepare your report. After both results return, Dr Jared reviews the panels together and writes your interpretation.
5. Schedule your Lab Review. Once your written report is ready, choose the included 30-minute in-person or video appointment that works for you.

Is this the right starting point?

The Gut Snapshot is designed for a specifically digestive question. It combines microbial DNA findings, digestive and inflammatory markers, and an intestinal-permeability assessment without adding unrelated blood or hormone testing. If your question is primarily about blood sugar, cholesterol, thyroid or hormone levels, choose the Metabolic Snapshot — $595. If digestive symptoms are part of a broader blood, hormone and multisystem question, choose the Metabolic Blueprint — $1,345.

The Gut Snapshot does not include bloodwork, DUTCH hormone-metabolite testing, an InBody scan or RMR testing. It is not a treatment program, and no additional purchase is required.

Common questions and boundaries

Do I need a consultation first?
No. The Gut Snapshot can be purchased directly.

Where do I collect the samples?
At home. Both kits are shipped with instructions and prepaid return packaging, so you can complete the collection on your own schedule.

Does the testing tell me exactly what I should do?
Not by itself. The laboratory findings show what was measured. Dr Jared interprets them with your history and symptoms during the Lab Review and explains which findings and next steps deserve priority.

Does the Gut Snapshot test for food intolerance or SIBO?
No. It does not identify a specific food as the cause of a reaction, it is not a SIBO breath test, and it does not test for celiac disease. Some included markers can add context to digestive symptoms, but they do not establish any of those diagnoses. If celiac is a question for you, that testing is ordered by your medical clinician — and it needs to happen before you remove gluten.

Do I need to stop any supplements or medication before collecting?
Your kit instructions cover timing around antibiotics, probiotics and acid-reducing medication. Follow them, and tell us what you are taking on your intake form so it can be read alongside your results.

What if my results come back unremarkable?
That is still an answer. Findings within range narrow the question by ruling areas out, which changes what is worth doing next and what is not worth spending money on. Your written report and Lab Review are included either way, and Dr Jared will explain what the results do and do not rule out.

How is this different from the Metabolic Blueprint?
Scope. The Gut Snapshot focuses on the gut without bloodwork or hormone-metabolite testing. The Blueprint evaluates blood, hormone metabolites, gut DNA and intestinal permeability as one broader multisystem assessment.

When is my Lab Review?
Schedule it once both laboratory results have returned and your written report is ready. Results typically return about two to three weeks after the laboratories receive your samples.

What if a sample cannot be processed, or I change my mind?
If the laboratory cannot process one of your samples, we send a replacement kit at no additional cost. With at-home collection that happens occasionally, and it is not something you pay for twice. If you change your mind before your kits ship, contact us and we will refund your purchase in full.
